During thirty years of productive practice in architectural design in the Pacific Northwest, Dennis has been heavily involved with many community activities. Notable building projects include the Metro Central Operation Base, many housing and food service projects, military installations, and several award winning residences. He also offered pro bono work to many local charities using his professional experience.
He has been either president or board member of many community organizations since the 80’s.He is a firm believer that merging his eastern background into the western environment will enhance the understanding and harmony between the east and the west.
Ever since entered into semi retirement from practicing architecture in 2000, he has been leading CTEF to help rural children to get basic education in remote parts of China.
One of his many hobbies is travel, which includes many parts of Asia, Europe, North and South America, and the Caribbean.

Waisiu was born and raised in Hong Kong.
He co-founded CTEF in 2000 with Dennis Su. He was an analog IC design engineer in USA for 20+ years.
He returned to China in 2004 and is now in charge of a mixed signal IC design house in Hangzhou.

A 3-year CTEF veteran, Beatrice brings to CTEF a passion for equal education opportunities and an entrepreneurial spirit. She is currently overseeing CTEF's expansion efforts. She also serves as the Co-Chair of Marketing and Communications Committee and Advisor to the Community Outreach Committee.
Born in Shenyang, Liaoning, Beatrice grew up in Shanghai, Wuxi and Beijing, China, before later living in Europe and the US. Beatrice started her profession at the Global Technology Mergers and Acquisitions Group of Merrill Lynch in Palo Alto, California. In 2003, she joined the Corporate Development Group of Microsoft, where she sourced, evaluated and executed structured transactions for Microsoft. Since November 2006, Beatrice has worked as a Business Development Manager of Microsoft’s strategic venture in healthcare, where she developed business strategy, executed partnerships and helped launch Microsoft HealthVault Consumer Health Platform nationwide. Beatrice brings to the Board years of experience in strategy, business development, operations and finance.
She graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Colorado College magna cum laude. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, theater, traveling, board games and sports.

Elsa has been with the United State
Postal Service since 1983. She had held various managerial
positions in the organization. Currently she is an
administrative Network Specialist in Operation Support. Ever
since all her children received full college scholarships
from the state public funding, Elsa is committed to
contribute back to the community. The involvement with
Kent-Yangzhou Sister Cities Committees had also leaded her
to passionately devote her time in helping the poor children
in China to acquire the basic education.
Elsa graduated from Seattle University with major study in
Business Administration and is certified to teach MBA
Executive Leadership Program.

Weijuan Shi is a Program Manager of Embedded Windows in Microsoft. She was born and raised in a junior high-school teacher family in the countryside of Jiangsu Province, China. In her childhood, she witnessed and experienced the poor school situation in the villages as well as the dedication from the teachers like her own father. Observations in her life later strengthened her passion to devote her best to bring a better education environment to the underprivileged people and give them hope.
Weijuan was really excited when she knew about CTEF for the first time in 2003. Since then she’s been a donor and volunteer of CTEF, and became a board member in 2006. She used to manage CTEF’s volunteer recruiting and board operations, now serves as an advisor on various projects. Since 2004, Weijuan has been the organizer of the annual Giving Campaign Drive in the Chinese Microsoft Employees (CHIME) Community inside Microsoft. With her and other volunteers’ efforts, CHIME has donated more than $350,000 (before the company match) to CTEF over the past years. Weijuan oversaw the naming of three schools built by CTEF after CHIME. She was recognized by CTEF Board as the “Volunteer of the Year” in 2006.

Born and raised in a teacher’s family,
Lin has passion for helping children, and believes in
education. She has been a donor and volunteer for CTEF for
over 4 years. Being a member of Microsoft MBD Giving
Campaign VPAL leadership team, she has organized and
participated in different MS Giving Campaign events for the
past 2 years.
Lin is a Software Engineer in Unified Communication Services
in Microsoft. She has BS in Physics from Dong Hua University
in Shanghai, and 2 Masters’ degrees from University of Iowa:
Management Information System, and Accountancy. Outside of
work, she likes sports such as ski, yoga, hiking and
bicycle, enjoys food and dinning with good friends.
Lin serves as co-chair of Marketing and Communications
Committee, China Operation Coordinator, and Regional
Director of Henan province.

A software engineer at Microsoft,
Haonan develops products and services for online advertising
platform used by Windows Live. Before joining Microsoft, he
spent more than 3 years making business logic middle tier
software at Siebel Systems. His knowledge in software
development and customer relationship management products
enables him to effectively define and implement donor
management process at CTEF.
Haonan holds two master's degrees from University of
Wisconsin-Madison, one in Statistics and the other in
Computer Sciences. He also has a bachelor's degree in
Mathematics from Fudan University in Shanghai, which is his
hometown.

Yihua Liao is originally from Hubei,
China. Growing up in a remote village east of the Yangtze
River Three Gorges, Yihua experienced China’s rural
education and witnessed the harsh conditions the rural
school teachers and students had to cope with. Even though
he was able to go to college and eventually study abroad,
many of his childhood friends were less fortunate and didn’t
even attend junior high school due to the lack of
educational opportunities. With a passion to help today’s
school kids and improve the education in China’s rural
areas, Yihua joined CTEF in April 2007.He has been heavily
involved with CTEF’s new website design and SharePoint site
implementation. Just recently, he has taken the additional
role of Regional Director overseeing the school projects in
Hunan.
Yihua has a B.S. in physics from Wuhan University and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, Davis. He started his professional career at ID Analytics Inc. as a data mining scientist in San Diego, CA in 2005. He joined Microsoft in Redmond, WA in September 2006, where he has been helping its online services to fight online fraudsters using advanced pattern recognition techniques. |

Coming from a developing country, Hong is particular drawn to the work that serves the underprivileged children and people, particularly those under the poverty line. She brings enormous passion to CTEF and helps driving various initiatives within CTEF regarding the communication and outreaching other non-MS orgs. Prior to CTEF, she volunteers at ChinaIT, a group dedicated to help China IT industry as a board member. Volunteering gives a sense of inner peace, satisfaction and lifelong friendship.
Hong Gao currently works as Program Manager in Microsoft Windows Live Search Division. She started her Microsoft career in 1999, work various positions ranging from managing various large projects to designing, developing products such as MSN Local Search, Visual Studio and SQL server etc. She holds two Master degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science from Univ. of Alabama in Huntsville and a Bachelor degree in Nuclear Engineering from Xian Jiao Tong Univ., China.
Outside of work, She enjoys travel, sports, food and volunteering. She believes in everyone deserves equal chance no matter country, gender, race and economic position.

Dorothy brings years of leadership
experience and technology innovation to CTEF.
Growing up as the child of two Zhejiang university
professors, education has always been important to Dorothy
and her family. She left China to pursue higher
education in the United States and graduated magna cum laude
with a B.S. in Computer Science from Brigham Young
University.
Dorothy has held a number of leadership positions with
Oracle Corporation and Amazon.com and led a number of key
product launches that visibly changed Amazon. She
currently works as a senior manager for Amazon's Digital
Media business.
