CTEF's annual retreat is a time the volunteers get together to discuss strategic topics every year.
This year we are fortunate to have Diane to plan the event with our board members-- Michelle, Weijuan and Dennis. The new format gives us flexibility to participate the topics we are interested in while keeping us focused at the same time. Thank you all for the great work.
It was a very successful retreat. We were amazed how much we had accomplished in a day—a new mission, identify existing problems and potential growth areas, new plan for key areas with priority, dedicated owner, and action plan.
Here are some of our thoughts…
- Grow further to other states in U.S, enhance our corporate exposure and reach out to other NGOs.
- Improve our volunteer base and project managed to better align the volunteer interests with our mission. Set up official volunteer screening process, orientation procedure, and mentor guidance.
- Improve operation efficiency and transparency. For example, we need to standardize the evaluation process for teacher award and student scholarship program and publish it. We will also improve project monitoring by further teaming up with local organizations.
- Build a better donor relationship in the coming years with better tracking, timely feedback, more newsletters and donor events.
- More marketing effort involving usage of social media, etc.
- Of course, we will need better technology to support many of the plans above.
Let us know what you think and work with us to improve the education in rural China!
