May 12, 2008, the deadly earthquake changed millions of lives forever. The victims are in desperate need for help and support. With the generous support from MSFT CHIME members and other donors, we have provided immediate relief as well as ongoing work in the earthquake zone.

We created the Earthquake Relief Fund to accept donations and bring much needed relief to the impacted areas. 100% of the contribution to the Earthquake Relief Fund is used to help the school children and rebuild many of the damaged or destroyed village schools and communities in the region.

Here are some examples of our work:

· Partnering with InterGlow, CTEF helps pay for the cost of running a 512 NGO service center that provides much-needed volunteer training and coordination services for immediate relief work.

· CTEF has committed to fund 4 pre-fabricated school rooms to help children quickly get back to school.

· CTEF has agreed to provide over 100K USD to rebuild Zhengshankou Center School that was damaged by the earthquake, enabling over 450 students to go back to school.

· Teaming with Sowers, CTEF donated RMB 378,000 (USD$55,588)and rebuilt the Wangyuan Village Elementary School in the Qingcheng County of Gansu Province (甘肃庆城县土桥乡王塬村小学).The school is now named after CTEF and Sowers Action (王塬村明日中华苗圃希望小学).

· Donates Books to Schools in Pengzhou, Sichuan

· Help 150 Earthquake students in Sichuan and start scholarship program for selected students in Sichuan.

· 5.12 Penpal to help the students through emotional trama.

The temporary project scholarship brings to the attention of a larger group of students who need financial assistance as well as the emotional support to continue any study, and that is the start of our 1+1 scholarship program. Here is a thank-you letter from one of the disabled students receiving our support. Her dad passed away and her mom needs to support two sick grandparents in addition to her. Still her mom encouraged her to continue studying despite her disabled arm, deprived of any resource. The minimum help we can give her allow her to go to school.

我是你们资助人员的其中一位，我叫孟琪，今年13岁了。你们的资助款6百，我已经收到了。

当我收到这6百元钱的时候，眼泪不禁的流了下来。这不是悲伤的眼泪，而是充满感动和和感激的眼泪。这6百元对我们家来说，好似一场及时“雨”。在这次地震中，我失去了父亲，右手也受伤了。一下家里就断了经济来源，家里还有两位体弱多病的老人，妈妈整天以泪洗面。妈妈一个柔弱的女人，怎能承担起两位老人昂贵 的医药费和家里的生活费。妈妈四处筹措，供我上学，给我买学习资料，看见妈妈每天起早贪黑的干活，供我上学，我很心痛。有几次我想过不去上学了，我是一个 成绩还不错的学生，不是万不得已，我是不会有这个想法的。妈妈知道了，含着泪对我说：“孩子，妈妈不管怎样都要供你上学，知识可以改变命运啊”！读完小 学，今年九月份我就该上初中了，可是家里已经一贫如洗了，我还能上学吗？当我正在为这件事烦恼时，你们的爱心捐款到了我手里，真是太好了！我又可以继续读 书了。

我又能回到欢声笑语的校园里，又能和老师，同学一起努力，又能徜徉在知识的海洋里，这是一件多么幸福的事啊！

谢谢你们！是你们使我看到了人性的光辉，是你们使我一次又一次的沉浸在感动中，在感动中我发现，我已从蛹化成立蝶，在蓝天下，在心灵里翩翩起舞！我会怀着一颗感恩的心，感恩所有帮助过我的人！
