1+1 Student Sponsorship is a CTEF program which aims to assist poor students with financial aid as well as moral support. It focuses on high school and college students and helps them to achieve their goals in education. The program started in 2007 as the RainEduc program to support students in China, and merged to CTEF in 2009.
We provide poor students with Micro Grants for up to 50% of their subsistence and school admission costs. We provide opportunities for donors to communicate directly to the sponsored students to see how they make progress in their lives and study. All volunteers are committed to donating their time and resources, and covering their own administrative cost. This means that 100% of your donation will reach the students.
If you have more questions, please read on at FAQ for answers.
A list of selected students and their situations will be provided at our 1+1 Sponsorship discussion board. If you find a student you want to sponsor, please proceed to donate the correspondent amount via our donor tool, and write down the student's name in the comment area. After the student receives donation, you and the student will be able to communicate directly. You will know how your money and care are helping them in their lives.
If you’d rather support the sponsorship program in general, please donate via our donor tool. Your donation will be pooled with other donors to help the students in the program.
Whether you are a school teacher or a volunteer in China, who wants to help the students in need, you can start the process by filling out the application form, and contact us.

“Teacher Yang (from RainEduc) contacted with me just a few days ago, as my father's
health is still not so well, I have been financed by your organization once again.
I'm very grateful for your help. This time I have received 1,500 yuan, though it
is not enough to pay for all my tuition, it can still help a lot. In the holiday
and weekends I still do some part-time jobs to cover living expenses… You
know that university life has not come easily for me, so I will cherish it very
much... I will do my best to help those who have same experience with me. Even though
I haven't money now, I still try to help some senior middle school students whose
family are poor in my hometown, I encourage them to overcome the hardship by telling
them my experiences - never give up, strong will can defeat anything. In a
word, the best answer is doing. Please trust me, I will do it.”
– Wang Lizong, 2nd year in university
